There are many legends about carob crystal and how it came to be. According to one, Cupid, the Roman god of lust and affection, gave the Earth rose quartz as a gift of love, passion and happiness for all. Another Greek legend tells a more tragic story. According to this myth, Ares, the Greek god of war, came in the form of a boar to kill Aphrodite's lover, Adonis. While trying to save Adonis, Aphrodite cut herself on a briar bush. As their blood spilled, it pooled on the flint crystal, turning the stone pink.

Carnelian, citrine, rhodonite, amethyst, stone lightning, malachite, selenite, red jasper, lapis lazuli, black obsidian go well with carnelian.
