Carnelian is a silica crystal, one of the most common varieties of the Quartz family. Its name comes from its delicate pink color, which ranges from a very pale pink to a deep reddish pink. It usually occurs in massive form, although it sometimes grows in clusters of small prismatic crystals. It varies in clarity from opaque to translucent to hazy transparency. Carnelian is known as the crystal of unconditional love. It is said to strengthen feelings of self-love and promote loving relationships with others.
