The lapis lazuli stone has a rich history. Its color is so unique that it got its name from its appearance, as lazure stone means "blue stone". This crystal has endless connections with different cultures across time and space, from ancient Chinese and Greek civilizations to Persian cultures, etc.

During the Renaissance, Lapis Lazuli was often ground and used to create the color blue. In powder form, the stone was also used in blue eyeshadows in ancient Egypt, most famously by Cleopatra. Lapis Lazuli was also used to decorate the tombs of kings. It was believed that the azure stone helps guide souls to the afterlife.
